China-Serbia Joint Research and Training Center for Small Hydropower Set up in Serbia
On October 30, 2019, the inauguration ceremony of China-Serbia Joint Research and Training Center for Small Hydropower and the Seminar on Low-head Small Hydropower Technologies were held at the University of Belgrade, Serbia. Dr. Sasa Lazovic, Vice Minister of Education, Science and Technological Development of Serbia, Prof. Radivoje Mitrovic, Dean of Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the University of Belgrade, and Prof. XU Jincai, Director General of NHRI(the Host of JRC) Rural Electrification Department, attended and addressed at the events. 32 representatives from China, Serbia, Montenegro, Macedonia and other southeast European countries participated in the activities.
The Seminar on Low-head Small Hydropower Technologies focused on such topics as the Technology of Renewable Energy and Micro Hydro Power, Testing and Measurement Techniques for Hydraulic Machines, Water Turbine and Technical Refurbishment for Small Hydropower Plant, Low-head Small Hydropower Plants in Extension of the Existing Agricultural Channel System of Danube-Tisa-Danube, etc.
At the Seminar, Prof. XU made a report titled The Technology of Renewable Energy and Micro Hydro Power. The report covered the development of renewable energy technology and the micro hydropower both in China and the world as well as the China-Serbia research cooperation and capacity building of small hydropower technology. Representatives visited a Danube irrigation channel in Kajtasovo and exchanged ideas on the development of low-head channel hydropower. Moreover, Prof. XU and Prof. Milos Banjac, Vice Minister of Mining and Energy of Serbia, discussed the development of energy resources and hydropower in Serbia.
